Default Cleaning spoke wheels

Hey gang,

Just curious how you guys take care of your spoke wheels?

Mine have a bit of a rust stain and i am wondering the following:

A - What product and method do you use for general cleaning?

B - Is there anything that will remove the stain and get it as close as possible back to chrome?

C - Is there a product anyone recommends for sealing the wheels?

I think it is called Flitz polish... and I use it on a attachment to the drill, got it at the HD dealership.

I bought a bike that was a few miles from the jersey shore and stores outside. Had a good amount of rust on spokes. Take pieces of aluminum foil dipped in Coca-cola and stroke the spokes. It will chemically absorb the rust. Just make sure you seal it with something after your done. They have remained rust free for me. The bike is an 09, and I've had it for a year now. I am garage kept, and farther from the salt water.

Do a search of google for a product called " Luster Lace " it works, is easy to use and doesn't cost a lot, Harley also sell a similar product I have seen in the local dealership here.

Flitz is good stuff. For normal cleaning I just windex and paper towels. If really grungy the Flitz is hard to beat. True Value Hardware stores stock it. Have never seen it at my dealer.

Not sure how much luster lace costs, but u can also take shoe laces, dip in your favorite metal polish, and works the same.

Great responses guys! Thank you for the great tips.

I always hated getting between the spokes but maybe the idea with some sort of drill extension would work best.

I have used Fritz before its great stuff!

@Odin, what would you seal your wheels with after you cleaned them with your method?
