Default Schematics

Does anyone have the schematic of the electrical system on the 2016 and 2017 street 750? I want to install a 2017 gauge cluster in my 2016 to get the extra features it offers but they're not plug and play. My 2016 has two 6 pin plugs that go to the gauge and a 2017 has one 12 pin plug. I need the schematics to make sure I get the wiring right when I make an adapter harness. I know I can get them in the electrical manual but to get both I'd need to spend more than this is worth. Any ideas where I can get them? Sorry to be a cheap *** but after ordering the exhaust, mirrors and a few other things mama's not happy!

Just a guess on my part, but it looks like the 2017 uses the Can bus wiring and the 2016 does not. I do not think the gauge cluster will work. Do some more research before buying the 2017 cluster.

Thanks HDs4me. Looks like a I'd have to run Can high and Can low up to the 2017 gauge. I think it would work as I found a diagram online last night of the pin out of the ECMs. Haven't had a chance to see if they match up pin for pin yet. My bike does have can high and can low at the ecm. Those leads don't run to the cluster though. It doesn't look like a fun job. I'll have to give this one some thought and maybe make it a winter project if I decide to do it. A tach and gear indicator would be nice though.

I think this is something I could do, without too much trouble. My biggest hold up are the parts. The cluster will be about $180 and then I'll have to find a new plug to go into it. Best situation would be a new main harness, but I'm not spending that kind of cash for this. If I can find a cluster and harness on ebay or something I might try it. Otherwise, I'll need to do a bit more research and maybe just get a cluster, run a few can wires and repin a new plug.
And thanks also 14GuineaPig.

Another thing to consider is that it seems the speedometer gets married to the bike after 31 miles (I think that's about 50 Kilometers). Once it's married to a bike it won't work on another bike. At least that seems to be true for the late model big twins, from what I've read. Best of luck with your project.

Yeah, I'll have to ask a tech at my dealer if they can program a used speedo to my bike. If not it would have to be a new one. I installed a new service part speedo from a Pro Street Breakout on my Lowrider and that worked perfect. Of course those were plug and play CanBus bikes. These are not.

Default Tach,clock,temp

Hey KTP and Street Fans,

I would like to have a Tach, clock, and temp gauge.
I found a Marlin's little clock and temp...still thinking about it. I would also dig a tach. My 500 screams "shift me" so I really don't need it but it would be nice to know what bike is doing.

Keep us updated on your progress.
If i get the Marlin time and temp I will do a quick review.

I wound up buying a KOSO DL-01R tach from eBay. Because it's programmable there's no need for any other electronics to make it work. It took a minute to figure out why it wouldn't read but it was just a few settings. Now I just need to rotate it left and it should line up nicely. I got the tach signal from the front cylinder just off of the ECM under the seat. The power came from the license plate light harness. Side pic: small harness above main harness, Steering head: wire with writing on it.
