Nice, haven't been there for a while, will have to look and see how far they've come with CrazyHorse monument now.
We were there couple days and been there many times since 2007 looking at from observation deck doesn't seem like they made whole lot of progress. But watched their documentary seems like they are working on the other side not sure why because it wont be seen unless every one takes the tour.
My neighbor across the road was a blaster on the monument for most of his career. The rock is so hard it takes a tremendous amount of energy to fracture it just right without removing more than intended. It's very long, slow process. I've been whining over how much time and effort it's taken to break rock at our building site, I couldn't imagine working on the monument and seeing the progress made compared to the scale of the project. You really can't grasp how big it is until you're on top looking down on the visitor center and see how far 385 is away from it.
