This may be addressed somewhere else but I couldn't find it in a search. I am thinking about changing my air cleaner to a open style on my 07 FXD. something like just the center disc with the round exposed filter. Two questions, One, will this have any effect on performance and two if all else is stock other than some slip ons, would I need to adjust anything else? Thanks
Some say you can get away with slip-ons and upgraded air without a tuner. Some will say use Xied's.
My opinion is if you upgrade the air as well, invest in a fuel tuner (cheapest method) or a better tuner ($ky is the limit). If you are not doing anything else to the motor like cams, you can get by with one of the many fuel tuners.
More air in, more air out, means you will be running a little leaner. This means you motor will run hotter.

Yes, it can have a positive effect on performance, if coupled with some sort of tuning. With your open pipes and now open A/C, you will need to make some changes in the fuel, at minimum.
