Appreciate the advice about the IAC being defective. If anyone has a part number for it.....I'll go ahead and order it. I called the two dealers about an hour away and neither have the IAC in stock. They told me I would have to come in and order it. Then come back and pick it up when it comes in. They wouldn't even ship it! They wouldn't give out the part number either.

So, if anyone here has the part number for the IAC....please help me out. This way, I can order it online and have it shipped to my front door. Thanks.......

Ok, I was able to get the part number (27272-95A). However, it sure is steep for about $85.00!!! Does this number cross-reference to any automotive IAC units?
Anyone have any extras laying around?
Aftermarket with good deals or great dealers out there with reasonable prices on this unit?

Or
Would it do any harm/damage over time by not replacing the IAC?

It is just a little high I think.......[:@]

this motor controls how much the throttle is open during normal start up, if you don't replace it, you won't be able to fix your starting issue.

Thanks, I will replace it.....I got the HD part number.....

The part number on the IAC is W8551 and another identifier A1198=, so I am going to try and cross reference it. Hopefully, some autoparts store can find a matching one with that number. I am just trying to avoid in paying $85 if I can get the exact same one for much less.

If I really have to....then I'll just bite the bullet and buy from HD.[:@]

Well, I purchased and have installed the IAC on the bike. The starting issue is fine now, at least I think so....however, this is the first EFI bike I have ever owned. So, does the following starting procedure sound about right to you?

Engine light comes on....then goes off......
Start the bike....idle is around 600-800. It has always been less than 1,000 when starting.
Fully warmed up....idle is around 1,000-1,100 according to the tachometer.

I personally think it should probably idle around 1,000 immediately though. Then again, I am not for sure

I am asking this because, if this is normal; then I won't have to adjust the hot/cold idle. If all this is way off to where it is suppose to be....then I will adjust it.

I did the cold/hot idle adjustment by the detailed instructions. Per instructions, the hot idle was fine and was about where it was suppose to be. The cold idle according to the instructions was about 500 below.

Now, when hot.....I start it and it immediately goes to about 1,100, then drops immediately to 1,000. I'll have to wait and see how cold effects it tomorrow....but I bet it will be much better than it was.It is looking good so far!

The cold idle adjustment is a PITA to get to.....T10 torx is rediculous!

yeah, the cold idle is only adjustable with the a/c off and a t-10 torx screwdriver is the easiest way to get to it, everything sound like its right now, I usually set the cold idle at about 12-1300, but however you like it is all good, as long as its above 900-950.

good job getting it all set up.
