Dynotuning Question
I have an '07 Dyna, got it about 2 months ago and I'm put to about 650 miles on the bike
I have a S/C a/c, race tuner and V&H Big Radius pipes with Big City Thunder Baffles. These are not on the bike yet since I was told I need to wait until 1,000 miles before the bike gets on the dyno.
Now I've already changed the fluids for the 1000 mile service. My question is, can I go ahead and put all this stuff on and hit the dyno?
The dealership told me that I could blow the motor if the motor sees the dyno before 1000 miles. I don't get this since, what if I'm on the street and hit 5,000-5,500 RPM's? Thats more stress on the engine than if I was on the dyno.
So can I go ahead and throw on the goodies? Wait another ___ miles? Or wait until 1000 miles?
thanks guys!
It's more than an oil change that has to happen before it get's wrung out on a dyno....
As an example, what if you have the upper motor mount bolts slightly loose, and on a 20% loaded run, the torque shears off the heads of the bolts, because the motor was shaking like a dog sheittin' razor blades.... Unlikely, but it is possible...
Or if during a 60-100% loaded run, your belt tears off a few teeth because it was too tight......
Or an improperly adjusted clutch will cause it to not only lose available Tq/HP, but will accelerate the wear on the pack 10 fold.....
These are some things to consider.... And SHOULD be caught during it's 1k service....
When I put a bike on our machine, it has to get a physical, to ensure that it can handle almost 3 hours of flogging on a loaded cell, not just because I don't want anything bad happenning to the bike (Dyno waiver releases us from damages incurred during testing/tuning), but because the end user needs to know that their bike can handle those stress' that are put upon it.....
It's your bike, but you are entrusting it to your tuner, and what they say should bode well for you....
If not, find another tuner who will take your bike, flog it,take your $$$$$, and not give a ratz azz about the condition of YOUR bike...
I see no reason why it should take 3 hours to tune a bike. Especially since I have no internal mods.
I had my 550+hp car with a HUGE cam tuned in 2 hours by this tuner.
Also I'm doing the 1k service myself, I've done the fluids, but still have to check over everything else
i'm not having it tuned at a dealership Did I make reference to that??? No, I stated to follow yourTUNERS recommendation only..... It is irrelevant who or where it is getting done at....
I see no reason why it should take 3 hours to tune a bike. Especially since I have no internal mods. I do this for a living, and tune 2 cylinders at the same time, with 2 seperate AF meters, hitting EACH Throttle position/RPM value for an accurate read on what the motor is producing, then apply necessary changes to each cell, as needed for the optimum tune.Internal mods or not, it still has to be done correctly, unless it is beingtunedvia the "Whack the Throttle" method....
I had my 550+hp car with a HUGE cam tuned in 2 hours by this tuner. I wish you the best in your results....
Also I'm doing the 1k service myself, I've done the fluids, but still have to check over everything else Glad that you invested in the Service manual.... It will pay for itself in a few more services....
And I quote... "The dealership told me that I could blow the motor if the motor sees the dyno before 1000 miles. I don't get this since, what if I'm on the street and hit 5,000-5,500 RPM's? Thats more stress on the engine than if I was on the dyno.

I gave you my PROFESSIONAL answer, and you chose to start questioning my answers....
It seems as though you already have decided to go ahead and do the upgrades against your Tuners recommendations, as well as soliciting for validation to install the upgrades....
You asked a general question to the forum....

But again, you have come off as a cocky moderator who seems to know everything

Again, maybe I just read the context wrong. I've just been at other forumns with some nasty people. This place seems to be great though!!!
Again, hope I didn't step on any shoes, but I am not questioning anybodies knowledge, just questioning the questions...if that makes sense?
Just trying to learn
