Default programable modules?

Okay, I'm pretty new to this, so please forgive my stupidity! I've got a 2001 Heritage. Last year I replaced my stock mufflers with Screamin Eagle slip ons and remapped. This month, I replaced the Eagles with Vance and Hines straight shots and installed Big City Thunder baffles in them to get a throatier sound and supposedly an increase my mid range horsepower. The top pipe is showing a heat tarnish where the bottom pipe ends (obvioulsy too lean) and my check engine light comes on when I start it up until I give it some revs! One local dealer tells me I just need todo a 3 run dyno on it for about $180. Another dealer says I need to install a programable module and then dyno to the (no pun intended) tune of $645.
I do not plan on any other modifications to the bike in the foreseeable future but right now, I'm afraid to ride as I surely do not wish to burn a valve or worse! Any advice will be appreciated!!
Thanks, Larry

I most cost effective method to solve your problem would likely be a dyno tune. The best method would be a DTT or Thundermax ECM for roughly $700. Those are the two extremes - at least that I know of.
