I've got an issue with a 5 pole ignition switch on the dash of a fat bob tank I am installing on a '87 1100 Anniversary. I am not sure what I have wired up wrong but when I turn the dial on the dash one click to the left, the bike tries to start but I haven't hit the start button. Any ideas? Video is attached. Help!
I would have to pull out a wiring diagram to check colors but most times people don't have a bright enough light in the workshop/garage to see the wire color and tracer color correctly.
You are going to have to go through and see what you have joined wrong from the hand controls as well as the dash.
If you been messing with the handle bar switches, make sure the start button is not sticking. Not sure how you can wire the ignition switch to the start button. I'm sure it's possible tho.

I could not think of a way to do it either but not sure what he has been doing but something is very wrong.
If the relay was stuck, it would crank regardless of ignition switch position (it gets power directly from the accessory breaker), so the logical suspect is a stuck start switch.
The starter should not crank if the kill switch is off, even if the start switch is stuck...
This is assuming the starter circuit wiring has not been altered.
