Throttle Position Sensor

Code came up that my throttle position sensor was bad on my 05 Deluxe. My indy said i would need to take it to dealership for replacement. I called five dealerships and two said i needed to bring it in for them to change and three said i could do it myself. My question is when looking at it i see three or four screws and where it is plugged in. What is hard about replacing it. DOes it have to be set/calibrated or .......

I would first check the connector and make sure you don't have any breaks in the wiring , check everything thoroughly including pins , also give the pins ( connector & TPS ) a good cleaning with an electrical contact spray cleaner . If that doesn't cure the problem , then look at replacing your TPS . Your TPS will have to be calibrated to your specific perimeters , if you have a service manual and a multi meter , it can be done . Not a difficult job , just a bit time consuming . I've done a couple of metric bikes , but I'm sure our bikes are no different .
