Default Help needed with hooking up Ultima dyna 2000i ignition

Hi guys,

Need some advice for my 1996 Evo softail build. 9.5 comp, ev27 cam etc.

PO had installed what looked like a a Crane HI-4 ignition. I'm replacing it with a new Dyna 2000i, new blue streak single fire coil and new leads.

The problem is the wiring - the PO has left the stock ignition box hooked up and connected and has done some wiring harness modifications that make it difficult for me to know where to start?

It would have been easier to install Islamic I was starting with a stock system, but I don't think I am.... I have the FSM and the instructions from the Ultima ignition, but could anyone tell me what's already been done or modified here?

It looks like there are three separate wiring sections all coming into/ out of the main rear harness as you can see in the pics.

Any advice on where to start would be great. Thanks.

Also has only a single pink and white wire joined together going to the coil.... does this mean it was previously dull run as dual fire?

.

EDIT.

I think I've got the wiring sorted, now to test with a multimeter once I've got the ignition switch and the kill switch hooked back up again...

When I hooked up the S&S ignition to my 94, that box got removed. As it connects the old pickup to the coil and VOES it was no longer needed.
It's all in the new ignition pickup.

Ok, thanks Ranger73.
So I've removed the old ignition box.

I have twill questions

1. when I go to reconnect VOES does the purple wire from the new ignition module just splice into the rear main wire harness where the old purple wire from the stock ignition box was connected?

2. How does the actual VOES switch work and what wire goes to the actual switch itself?

Thanks

I have this coming off the back of the VOES switch, but not sure where it plugs into?
Looks like it is connected to the vacuum pipe that goes to the carb?

Thanks

The VOES is vacuum operated and has 2 wires, 1 is grounded and the other that went to the box you removed will go to the purple from the new ignition.
It's in the instruction book, you can get a copy online.

thanks, I've got the purple wire routed in now. Hopefully it still works. 👍

I'm still not sure what this attached to? The other end I'm pretty sure is the vacuum to the carb...

From what I can tell, there should only be one vacuum line from the switch to the carb.... I can't figure out what the one I'm holding is for?

Looks to be the vacuum line from the carb to the VOES, check for a T connector on the carb vacuum line, one will likely go to the back of the petcock as most are vacuum petcocks.
