Ok understood thanks for the updates guys. I'll get the right hand control off and check continuity and report back.
The pdf service manual I purchased way back when seems to exclude wiring diagrams which is a pain but I'll use that link mentioned above with my vin if I don't spot anything off when I check the hand control wiring.
Hey Dan!
I haven't managed to check it out yet I've just finished an oil service after 100km on the new cam chest gear and swapped the clutch out for a Kevlar extra plate. It's next on the list - hopefully tomorrow!
It's also just started an odd cough/splutter that I may need to check out first. Riding along usually low to mid RPM it'll cut power for less than half a second and cough out the air filter - perhaps fuel filter or something. New spark plugs and leads look good so I'm thinking fuel issue rather than spark.
As soon as I check out the kill control wiring I'll report back though!
I know it's an older one, but this thread made me smile. I remember getting the crap kicked out of me couple of years ago on the forum. Somebody on a sportster had their bike shut off when they were going like 70 miles an hour and was asking for suggestions why it happened .
I suggested they might've accidentally hit the kill switch and that's when the crap hit the fan. A big kerfuffle about it being an engine stop switch, not an engine kill switch. I know, it sounds ridiculous, but every time I see a reference to the Killswitch, and always makes me smile.
Kind of like the kick stand jiffy stand debate, lol. Sorry for the hijack
