So I have always understood throttle by wire was mapped with throttle position... Or TB blade position. I have had other tuners and in those applications, they didn't make more power, they just cut the throttle distance in half. Who cares...
Well, so I just got a PV-3B. Looking at the mapping... Not only is the travel variable but the total opening is capped. A lot in some instances. News to me.
So why is throttle opening capped? Can it be made better, can it be opened more. I'm not going to monkey around with it ***** nilly... But what can I do to improve things. Do I just ask Fuel Moto to do it for me?
On a cable drive system, moving the throttle pipe moves the cable, which rotates the throttle blade 1:1, so twist grip = throttle position.
On a drive by wire system, moving the throttle pipe moves the twist grip sensor (TGS), which sends a "request" to the ECM. The ECM controls the throttle blade actuator, which moves the blade to the charted opening in the table, which is reported in the data as the TPS (throttle position sensor).
There are many tables that affect the blade opening. At idle, the blade will be open from 3-5%, as it is being used as the Idle Air Control motor.. At WOT, the blade will be anywhere from 40-100% depending on RPM. As long as the system is achieving ~100 KPA MAP load at WOT, there is no need for further blade opening.
Which tables did you want to "monkey with"?
Sorry, I have been busy. Silly not to respond to my own thread. There is a table for max throttle opening... However, I was looking around at more stuff. I'm certainly no expert on engine management... There is a lot of factors involved. Looking at my tune, FM changes a lot of stuff already. So I think I don't know enough about what I'm asking for.
If you set throttle setting to 100% of what is asked by the twist grip, response can be a twitchy motorcycle and low rpm maneuvers. Won't be noticeable at mid and high rpm usage.
