Ignition/Tuner/ECM/Fuel InjectionNeed advice on ignition issues? Questions about a tuner? Have questions about a EFI calibration or Fuel Injection? Tips on Engine Diagnostics, how to get codes, and what they mean. Find your answers here.
Just installed a Powervision on my dyna that I got from fuel moto, flashed the custom tune they loaded and started the bike. Is there anywhere on the Powervision I can look to verify the tune that’s on it ?
In the power vision you can "save current tune" to power vision. It will ask what slot to save it. Pick one. it should read the same as the one the FM gave you. Also, you can remove the PV from the bike after the save. Fire up your computer, and if you didn't already ,download the software from Dynojet.( Power Vision Software 64-Bit Version PowerVisionSoftwareInstaller) You can pull the tune from the PV and and display all the parameters in the software. You can also open 2 tunes at the same time ( the one you were sent, and the one you pulled off the bike) and compare them.
My guess is, if you loaded it and it told to cycle the ignition, it was loaded. .

good question. I believe the answer is no. I have asked DJ for that as well as adding the tune name to the log file and having WinPV report on current tune installed in the PV.
Doesn’t look like PV or WinPV will be getting any more updates ☹️

A Dyna is up to 2017, the power vision still works on these , It doesn't work on the 23.5 and up center-cooled.And who said anything about log files, he just want to check what tune is installed.

As mentioned, you can read a copy of current and compare that in WinPV or C3. That's probably the most thorough way to tell, although some of the EEPROM items might not match in that case. But all the non-EEPROM items should.
Alternatively:
1) You could pull the log from the device using WinPV (Get ECM Data, grab DiagnosticsHistory.txt and save it off to your PC), take a look at the last entry for a tune write. If it says success, it loaded, and that's the last tune on there, assuming you haven't touched the bike with any other flash tools since..
2) Or, if you have the tune they sent you and you look at the tune in WinPV or C3, check out its CalID item. Do [Tools}>{Vehicle Info] while connected to the bike and if the CalID matches what the tune showed, pretty good chance that's what is loaded.
EDIT: On second thought, if you have a tune built off your STK and the CalID wasn't changed, then option 2 above would be useless. Guess I didn't think of that.
EDIT2: On third thought, option 1 might be bad too...? IIRC it maybe logs the "current" CalID when writing a tune (i.e. what was in the ECM before the tune write), so that's probably a bad idea too. My bad!

I did. Let me explain for you. He wanted to know how to find out what tune is loaded in his ECM. My response was that it it does not show directly , but it would be nice if it did. The log file part was a suggestion I made to Dynojet on where they could but it. They are considering it.

Yeah that would have been a very useful data point that would have been insanely easy to implement in FW, almost an afterthought. It's too bad it fell through the cracks or whatever the case may be.
