Hope some of you out there can help.My 06 softail with EFI suddenly started misfiring, belching black smoke out the exhaust and would not stay running unless the throttle stayed cracked open about halfway.Managed to limp the bike home had it towed to the dealer, told them the error codes I found(thanks to this forum and all of you)and four days later had the bike back with an new ECM and remapp.Three weeks later on labor day same thing happens!Called dealer again, same error codes.Asked them if this is a common problem and got the blank stare.Waiting for another ECM to come in.Bike is under warranty and only has 2600 miles on it.I work as a tech on a lot of different equiptment and am almost certain something is spiking the module.Any one out there know of this happening and a final fix?I don't want this tokeep happening and then find out after warrranty expires that some expensive magical fix is now known at my expense. Thanks for any help

Just guessing but this may not be an ECM problem, possibly a connection problem that gets disturbed and correctedwhile replacing the ECM then connection problemresurfaces again later.Wonder if they reinstalled old ECM back in to confirm diagnosis after replacingwith new ECM?A MAP sensor connection problem would cause your symptoms.
Some have been successful putting the stock spark plug cables back on their bikes. My wife's bike had trouble like you described went through an ecm and a power commander. Turns out nothing was bad, rather it was her braided cables were arcing.Long story but that worked for us you might want to try that if you aren't running stock cables.
First thanks for the help.I still have the stock plug cables so I am ok there. Thanks for the info on that. These are the codes I got the first time,PO108/PO113/PO118/PO123/PO374/P1356.,they replaced the ecm, remapped and changed the injectors to 25 dgr version. This last time these are the codes I got PO113/PO118/PO123.Was supposed to get the bike back either Fri or Sat,well here it is Sun and no bike.Perfect riding weather and nothing to ride, again.Trying to stay calm about the whole thing with the dealer but a call to corprate HD is in the plans for tommorrow.Even when the bike comes back I'll just be waiting for it to blow another mod and get stuck God knows were for the third time. Thanks to all again for your help.
