Mud, try these port settings. These are what I use with data mode and a variety of other stuff.
Joe, my check engine light doesn'tgo on and off, but my battery light does. Doesn't seem to affect anything, but there's a bug somewhere.

You've lost me now Joe.

I do not see any of that when
right-clicking on one of your usb HUBS in the hardware list

Mud,
The serial port does not have a power managment option like the USB hubs do. If you right-click on one of your usb HUBS in the hardware list, and go to Properties, you will see a "power managment" tab. It' s there you can uncheck the box allowing the computer to turn off this port.

So, the serial port will be hot or active all the time. That's why serial port (and parallel port....printer) connected devices are not "hot swappable" as is the case with USB devices. You can unplug a USB device from the computers usb port with the computer running and then plug in another USB device in the same or different usb port on your computer and the computer does not mind at all.

Try that with a serial port and all hell breaks loose. So it's a good idea to always have your serial cables plugged into the back of the computer and the other side of the SERT 's cable plugged into the data dongle on the bike BEFORE you boot up the computer.

I wish I knew why my engine light is coming on during data runs...hummmm

Regards,
Joe
