Default Power Commander

Hello All,
I'm fairly new to the forum. I'm looking for some advice, I'm considering purchasing a PCIII for my 2005 Ultra Classic. Is this a good choice? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Great Forum !

Happy Holidays

Opinions differ. I went with the SERT.

Welcome to the forum!!

SERT for me...if you don't know, here's the difference.

SERT reprograms the ECM and comes off the bike.

PC III stays attached to the bike...some have had problems with the PCIII putting too much resistance...others have NOT had a problem.

Your bike, your choice.

I have an 05 Ultra with PCIII.

Only problem is my milage went from 38 mpg stock to 32 mpg current - with using the exact map too.

Dynojet/RUSH were no help either.

Still puzzled by lack of support from either manufacturer.

Meanwhile I ride a GAS GUZZLER.

Only solution I keep hearing over and over is get a custom dyno tune ~ $250. May do this in the spring???

Let me know of your experience afterwards. THANKS.

Sounds like you need to dyno that bike and it will work out the kinks...ensure you have the right mixture at various RPMs, this will get the performance you want without wasting fuel.

After having the PCIIIusb insatlled and dyno'd I was prepared for my mileage to take a dive, but yesterday after filling her up and checking, I saw no change in fuel mileage per gallon and theres ALOT more power. Good luck with yours.

That's my concern exactly....Have an 05 Ultra and would like to put on power commander and rineharts, also an arlen ness big sucker but am afraid that mileage will suffer. Seems to be a wide spectrum of users on this forum with several different results. My dealer wants to sell the SERT but other mechanics that I know swear by the PCIII. Lots of discussion on this forum but I'm still a little unsure as to what I will do.....Tim

basiclly that bike is lean from the factory more air on gas to air ratio not good and also runs hot. the exhaust and air filter will lean the mixture even more not good basiclly the power comander or any other method is correcting the air fual ratio the way it should be and that is richer which will run cooler and and use a little more gas.

I am running the PCIII in my 06 Road King Custom and like the results of it. After looking at the map they installed on the software it turns out it is for a stock ECU with some upgrades. I am looking at the power commander site now for some maps of a stage 1 ECU which I have with my SE Airbox and the SE slip on mufflers to download into it. I will be getting it dyno tuned after Christmas due to his backlog. I have the map 807-213 loaded now that came in it. Runs good with it. It turns over 4 or 5 times before it fires up though. Perhaps it is due to the map in it.
