This sounds so simple compared to most posts, but I have a small cigarette lighter that I installed off the horn mount. It is a simple 12 volt powerwire and a ground wire.
I have actually had it on bike for a few years, but due to some recent battery / voltage regulator problems, I have been wondering if this may have been causing someof the issues...just removed it totally, but want to get it back on. At first I had the power wire snaked up under the tank to the 50 amp terminal in front of the battery and the ground wireon the horn's ground wire. I moved the power wirea few months ago to thefuse box and stuck it intothe fuse marked accessory. It has always worked fine.
My question is what is the best way to wire this to ensure I am not putting excess drain on the battery or that I have it groundedproperly?
And no...leave it off and quit smoking is not an option at this time...but I appreciate the concern.
I guess you could always hook it directly to the battery with an inline fuse holder. I can't see how it could interfere with any other circuits that way. Of course it would always be powered.
