I have a 2006 Heritage Softail and attempting to hard wire my GPS. I have removed the fuel tank and nicely routed the wire. (I have purchased a 3rd party hard wire cable that incorporates a voltage regulator designed for my particular GPS unit). I now have the wire dangling at the battery area waiting to connect somewhere but not sure well, actually I have no idea.
I would like to connect to a circuit that is fused and is switched on when the bike is running.
I see a red wire that terminates with a deutsch connector but not sure if it is fused. I checked it with my volt meter and it had 12 volts so it is not switched with the bike. I removed the accessory 15 amp fuse and there was still 12 volts.
Create a new circuit with a fuse. Run it to the post above the battery where the battery grounds. There is a negative and positive post right there. That is what I would do.

I do not know off hand. The best bet is to wait for someone who does know to answer this. Maybe try posting in the General Harley Chat thread. It gets a lot more views than the softail section.

that is a permanent feed. in other words as long as the battery has power that connector does. if you plug into there your sat nav will stay on even if the bike is turned off unless you take the gps of the holster which im sure many people do it this way. if you were ever to install heated grips you would use a - from the battery that connector would be your + and the yellow switch wire goes to the ign fuse which only turns them on when the bikes on.
you can use that connector but youd be better to just create your own fuse straight of the battery with a 2 amp fuse. and even better wire it to a switch so you can turn it of and on when you wish which will make sure you never drain your battery.
ps a good one would be to trace back the headlight cable and come of that. this means your gps cradle will only be live when the headlight is on which would be perfect.
you will need to trace the cable back to its origin maybe there it will be easy to connect another to it in parallel. if you are going to use the headlight cable make sure and not connect it to the full beam switch wire, IT MUST BE ON THE DIPPED BEAM SUPPLY. a volt meter will be able to tell you this no problem just put it on the cable and set it to dc voltage then switch the full beam switch on and of once on the correct cable you will see the voltage fluctuate between 0v and 12v.THIS IS NOT THE SUPPLY YOU WISH TO USE. you want to use the other cable check it also by again putting the volt meter on it and turn the key or whatever way you turn your bike on do that you will see the headlight come on and the volt meter on the right cable go to 12v.
so just to make sure the headlight cable has 3 cores normally. negative and 2 x switched positive. one for the dipped beam and one for full beam. you want to use the negative and the switched positive that does the dipped beam
