Default Do I need to dyno?

I have a 08 Road King with 300 miles, had SERT,SEAC and SuperTrapp SE's installed before delivery. No problems of any kind, no popping or anything. It's runs great, if I do dyno do I have to wait till 1000 miles? Thanks, Elusive 1

I'd wait for 1000 miles before I'd put it on a dyno just to make sure it was broken in well and any factory flaws have shown up. You'll probably have to sign a release to the dyno shop in case the engine destroys itself. If you're running good with no popping and your spark plugs show no signs of running lean, Ipersonally wouldn't do it unless you want to squeeze every last HP available.
I'm curious though, if your dealer put the SERT on before delivery, did they dyno it then? My experience is they just want to sell a stage I download.

If it runs good all around and you're happy, why go looking for trouble?

I had the SERT installed at the 1K service,Never had a dyno.
Bike runs great (20K miles)so I'll keep the money in my pocket.
I was also qouted 4-5 hrs ($95 p/h)for dyno time from a dealer!

A different viewpoint, why is it that most are so quick to spend big money on gadgets that may help or hurt performance and so reluctant to spend on a good dyno tune that never hurts performance, instead, usually helpsandprovides peace of mind thata unique concoction of parts is or is not working and properly tuned? I think the answer is "merchandising".

I would bet that a good dyno tuner could takemany stock bikes and gain more performance then bolting on anexhaust andair-cleaner combo that never gets tunedfor less then those parts cost.

You can have the biked tuned just for air fuel to make sure the map you are using is not running lean. Everyone things when they put it on a dyno you have to beat the crap out of it. About 95% of people want that peak horse power/tork. to brag about. I would wait until you get over a 1000 miles then bring it in to have some tune it so you know the map you are using is not to lean at somespots. I have seen some of the sert stock maps and I think the guys at harley just throw darts at any a/f number and say thats good. LOL LOL. When they installed it at the dealer they should have done that for you. Just tune for a/f. Not for peak power. Well thats what we do at our shop. I use an LM1 and take the bike out and record real time and load wind and g force to make sure your bike a/f is correct so there are no lean spots. We like to see the bike run about 13.8.1Then later when you brake in the bike if you want then we put it on the dyno and go for peak power but still give you a good air/fuel across the board I lookfor good power across the board. Not peak. What good is peak power when you do all your riding at under 3500 rpm. Unless you race the bike. Any good tuner will tell you that.

Thanks for all the advice, the problem is I don't know of any dyno tuners around here, andI wish I was closer to DRAGOSBIKEWORKS. I would just like to checkto make sure everything is ok.The bike runs great, but wouldn't mind knowing the hp & tq. Thanks again, Elusive 1
