Ignition/Tuner/ECM/Fuel InjectionNeed advice on ignition issues? Questions about a tuner? Have questions about a EFI calibration or Fuel Injection? Tips on Engine Diagnostics, how to get codes, and what they mean. Find your answers here.
Hey all. I have an 07 flstc with a pcIII. Ever since I installed it, I have had trouble starting my ride i.e it turns over many times before it fires up. I worry about wearing out my starter or battery prematurely. If I disconnect the pcIII the problem goes away and fires right up. So I call the people I bought it from and they said not to wait for the check engine light to go off. They said to turn on the ignition, flip the run switch, and press the starter button. Generally this works and the bike fires right up, but sometimes I still have to crank it awhile. I guess what I'm getting at is does anybody here have experiance with this? Do I have a defective unit? Should I get a sert or something else? Am I just being too picky? Thanks in advance.
I hope so, cause the bike runs real good now that there's a tuner on it! \\;I don't wanna take it off or spend a bunch of cash on another tuner. And i'm glad to hear i'm not the only one.
Just fully enable the ignition and immediately thumb the starter. There is absolutely no reason whatsoever to wait even 1 second.
The PC-III gets its power source from the same relay which powers the fuel pump. If the fuel pump has quit whirring before you get to the starter switch and you don't want to crank it a few extra revolutions, kill the ignition again and wait long enough that when you turn it back on the fuel pump runs.
Crank it while the fuel pump is still running and it will bark to life immediately.
I have a PCIII on my 2004 electra glide, a few extra turns does not bother me, I usually hit the starter button as soon as the ignition is turned on, no problem, no bother....
Ok \\;I did a little experiment. \\;I flipped the run switch to the \\;run position. Then I held down the starter switch (bike in neutral) and turned the switch on the dash to ignition and it fired up on the first crank. Thanks for your help.
