went to start \\;\\\\\\; my 06 dyna and i have no \\;power going to switch, the lights ,nothing.. so i checked the fuses and the battery but all was fine..i probed the red wire going to the ign.switch and no power..i probed the fuses with the test light and nothing. i assume that the switch has to be on to get the fuses to show power with the test light...im at a lose on what to check..anyone know what it could be...i thought the main red wire that goes to the key switch stayed hot all the time and when you turn the key everything gets power.. is this right..
I'm not really following your post well. \\; Excuse me.
 \\;
The ignition has 3 wires to it. \\; One is solid red. \\; Hot all the time. \\; The others will be Red with a black stripe and red with a grey stripe.
 \\;
When you put the switch on accessory, then the red with grey stripe should have power. \\;
 \\;
When you put the switch on ign, then all the wires should have power.
 \\;
If this is the case, your ignition switch is working correctly. \\; The problem is further down the wiring harness. \\;
 \\;
The headlight and running lights are on the light fuse.
 \\;
The brakelight should be on the accessory fuse.
 \\;
The power to the run/stop switch is on the igntion fuse.
 \\;
These are the first circuits to check. \\; Let us know what you find.

If I am reading your post correctly, you say no power on the red wire to switch. Then somewhere between the battery and the switch will be your problem. Not sure, is there a fuseable link there? Check your repair manual for wiring diagrams.
