"flashers before starting"????
On a carbed 01 Wide Glide, cold start......Pull on the choke, switch the main ignition "ON", turn the thumb switch "ON", wait for the "engine" light to go off....HOWEVER, just before the "engine" light goes out, the turn signals "flash" about 6-8 times just like I had set the flashers. The flashing stops, the "engine" light goes out, start the engine and everything works like normal. This bike is not equipped with an alarm system. And everything seems to work fine otherwise...Any guesses whats wrong??

The six quick flashes are an alert to show that for some reason the bike has picked up a trouble code. Mine did the same and I never did get it fixed by the instructions, but it finally quit flashing on it's own. I guess the 50 starts fixed mine. You can read more on it HERE.

Thanks markster6828....that was the problem. The code was a 31, Alarm output low....well I guess so since the bike doesnt HAVE an alarm. I cancelled the code, we will see how long that lasts!
