Default TTS Questions

Does the TTS Tuner have both DB9 RS232 and a USB Port on the computer side? Is the USB port USB2.0 and if it is 2.0, I assume it is backward compatible to USB1.0? Thanks, Calvin.

Mastertune will work with both a USB or RS232. You need to purchase the right cable kit when buying the unit.

Steve, Thanks for replying. I have an older laptop and it only has USB1.0 versus USB2.0 ports on it and no DB9 RS-232 ports. Hence asking to make sure it is backward compatible. Thanks, Calvin.

I had trouble using the USB adaptator provided by TTS on an old laptop with USB 1.0...
the computer hang when USB was connected...
So I rather use serial RS 232 and it worked perfectly... I love my TTS !

MasterTune USB Adapter that's included in the USB Cable Kit is USB 1.1. Compatible with 2.0 also:

Works fine with Windows XP and Vista. Making sure your OS installs a driver when first connected is important.

Calvin:

USB 1.1 was introduced in the fall of 1998. How old is your laptop? Thinking it might be 1.1.........

WVUltra, I just looked at the specs for my laptop and found out that the USB ports are USB1.1 So the USB cable kit has a USB adapter built into the cable I presume? Thanks, Calvin.

Calvin:

The standard cable set includes two cables. The USB set includes an additional serial to USB adapter which has about 12 inches of cable built onto the adapter. The link I posted above shows an identical adapter. The standard cable set has one cable that plugs into the USB Adapter (RS-232) and the other end of the adapter cable plugs into your computer's USB port.

Hope this isn't too confusing.

The drivers required for our USB setup are included on the CD you receive with the product. For the USB customer you need to install the proper driver for you OS version of Windows. The driver should be installed prior to installing any USB cable in to the PC.
