won't start

I have a 2000 fatboy. I was driving the other day and the bike went dead. I pulled over and shut the ignition off and turned back on. I notice that I have no engine light that comes on at first start. I can't start it at all, no crank. Once in awhile the engine light will come on and the bike will start for one revolution and than shut down. Just randomly will the light come on. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I tried a ignition module already. I know that it has something to do with the engine light.
