I have a 99 flhtcui with 37k miles....have never had any problems with the engine light untill today....I washed my bike today, just like I have before, and when I started it, the engine light came back on and stayed on for about 10 seconds and then went off....nothing else seemed to happen....so, the rest of the day everytime I would start, the red engine light would come back on for about 10 seconds and then go off....what is happening ????
That answers my question also. Its happening to me. Before I clear it sure would like to know what it is and dont really want to bring ti to the stealership around here they are a bunch of *****.
I have an 03 Softail, same problem.
Has happen several times in the past two years. Bike will start, run and perform great, then for
no reason I will get the engine light, bike will still run great with no problems.
Take it to the dealer they erase the code and I'm off and running, untill it happens again.Never know when that will be. The last time I took it to the dealer, they said the code was
an open circuit?, but everything on the bike works.
I beleive I've gotten this code a total of 5 times.
Sure would like to know why this keeps happening.
Dan
[:@]I talked to my dealer and was told that it was probably a low voltage history code, probably caused when I started and is not a problem and it would clear in 50 starts....shouldn't be a problem....
