programmer with new pipes/filter
I have an '05 Road King. Its got a K&N Filter on it and I just aquired a set of Rinehardt true dual exhaust. I know that in order to run optimally, I need a programmer. I have two questions:
1: Can I run the bike temporarily with the pipes and filter without a programmer? Am i going to burn up pistons? I live at 7000ft. with a few trips to lower elevations. By temporarily, i mean 3-6 months.
2: When I can afford it, what should I use. The Power Commander was reccomended to me by the local shop because its ability to easily re-map for other changes. Im told that it comes in just under $400. I was told that the cheaper mapping by HD runs about $150 but is more problematic and must be bought again when I say, put cams in the bike.... whats you guys' take on this????
