Ignition/Tuner/ECM/Fuel InjectionNeed advice on ignition issues? Questions about a tuner? Have questions about a EFI calibration or Fuel Injection? Tips on Engine Diagnostics, how to get codes, and what they mean. Find your answers here.
When you change the injectors from 8deg to 25deg does the ECM have to be changed or just a new Download done on the original ECM? Also if I want to add some slip ons and stage 1 filter will the SERT work with the original ECM or do I need a different one for this?
Bob,
I appreciate your responses. I recently installed the SERT software on my computer and I'm in the midst of becoming familiar with it.
Is the standard ECM upgrade to the 25 degree injectors available to the home tuner with a SERT? Talking stock 06 FLHRCI, no engine mods as of yet. With the problems that some people have had (myself included), having the dealer/service depts taking concerns about the 8 degree injectors seriously, I just wonder if it might be less headache to flip for the injectors and do the service ones self, if needed. Thanks!
The big problem with the injectors is that the new induction module is a 46mm size, and the 8's are just too small to properly charge the combustion chamber....
The majority of problems seem to be with the FLH/T line.....
Shovelhead Bob, if the 8 degree injectors are just too small to properly charge the combustion chamber what harm if any are we doing to our engines by running them? Alot of people here are still running the 8s because they are not yet experiencing any problems and the dealers wont change them to the 25s Thanks,........................BG
It's really dependant on atmospheric and Geographical conditions that will cause the injectors to peter out......
It's a hit or miss scenario... Similiar to the Cam Bearing Bulletin back for the MY 1999/2000 TC's....
Hit or miss....
Mine crapped out at 23k....My BIY, he has over 50 k on his now, and still same Cam Bearings..... His bike and mine were 3 days apart off of the line (His first).....
Well I took the bike back to supposedly get the right ECM installed today and they tell me now that it's in and the downloads have been done but now there is something wrong with something that regulates the idle some air sort of valve or something so they have to keep the bike again and order this part. I tell ya it's getting old having a new bike and not being able to ride the piece of junk because it stays at the dealer more than it does with me. I just want to know how all this stuff can go bad on a new 06 bike in less then 2 months? The bike ran fine when I took it in today.
