Hey
I was doing some cleaning on my bike and was going to take off the dash but found the mileage ****/speedometer wouldn't come off in the maintenance manual it says to remove screw and ****. I looked and could not tell what the h^**& kind of screw is in there --allen wrench--philips--flat---star I could tell. so I went to drinking and the **** is still on!
Not sure what kind of bike you have but if you are talking about the reset button on the side of the dash, you should be able to unscrew the rubber boot covering the button and it should slide right out or expose another nut.
Just a guess here but maybe there is a slotted or allen head set screw on the side of the **** itself that you loosen to remove the **** then the whole schebang from the dash case.
I have a 95 fat boy and it has a phillips head inside the ****. Just stick it in the opening at the top of the ****. You have to use a very small phillips head to get it. If it is too big it will just spin off the head and you may strip the head. Use a small thin Phillips and it should come right out.
