Ignition/Tuner/ECM/Fuel InjectionNeed advice on ignition issues? Questions about a tuner? Have questions about a EFI calibration or Fuel Injection? Tips on Engine Diagnostics, how to get codes, and what they mean. Find your answers here.
I have an 08 Street Glide with after market pipes and am about to fit a K&N, I expect to do a lot more to the motor beyond this and as it is the first bike I have had with injection I want to be able to tune it myself as I did with my past carbed bikes, do you think the PV is the right solution for this? I am tech savvy.
In my fm map the 20 kpa column from 5000 down to 1750 afr was set at 12.0, and 1500 down to 750 was set at 13.0. I had to lower the afr to 11.6 from 5000 down to 1750 to get completely rid of decel popping. At 1500 dowm to 750 I left it at 13.0 (that low of rpm wont have much to do with decel).
I started by lowering it down to 11.5, there was no popping. Figured id try it at 11.7 just to dial the fuel back a bit, and there was a slight popping occasionally. Split the difference and set it to 11.6 and its working great. Didnt just get rid of popping but also made it sound awesome on decel.
I guess what im saying is try small changes and take mental note of the impact.
Thanks man (you too SGLARRY). I'll make the change and see what happens.
OK so I'm relatively new to Powervision. When I want to go out on a run and do a data log that I can use in the basic tune, can I use the code 319245 or do I have to manually enter all the fields they say to use? It seems there are a few missing with the code.
I want to upgrade to the Power Vision soon. I am in the process of reading at least come of these pages but it can be a bit overwhealming. I mailed Fuel Moto several days ago about purchasing one but so far no response and haven't had the best luck connecting with them on the phone. I have a good tune now but would be nice to be able to edit it and to do a little data logging.
Ok I bit the bullet the Power Vision should be here tomorrow. From what I've read it seems to be the one to get. FM loaded a map that should be close to my set up. I'll get everything loaded up tomorrow night and I'll ride on Saturday and see what it's like. I'm pretty sure I'll be back here gettin some ideas once I get it figured out and start the fine tuning.

Ok, I didn't have an extra bag of cash laying around, so I thought I'd never be able to buy a Power Vision. But, my lovely wife let me use the $500 worth of Amazon gift coupons she still had from Christmas to buy one! I would have liked to have bought the PV from Fuelmoto because of all the great things I've read about them, but you gotta do what you gotta do.
So, I guess I'll have to use whatever canned maps are available from Dynojet when my PV comes in next week. Anyone dealt with Dynojet techs for tweeking your tune? I've only got Rush slipons and a Kuryakyn Hi Five Mach 2 Air Cleaner, so nothing too drastic.
AS I look at this and many other posts and forums, WTF!,? Dyno jet advertises simple tunning no PC, plug&play. and when you read this forum everybody is trying to be a scientist. Why in the hell can't somebody invent a system to take away all the guess work. I see riders spending countless hours trying to define their tune. I'm going back to my Cushman Eagle.
The PV can be pretty much plug and play. Just load a map from either DJ or FuelMoto and ride. However, the PV is also a very powerful tuning tool that will give you alot of control over your tune. The choice is yours. Some of us really enjoying tuning and the PV allows you to do that if you want.

The PV will be an excellent choice. I have an 08 as well. Click the link in my sig for a basic How to.

If you enter the code, it will log all the data you need plus give you a screen to monitor which areas you hit while riding. After you enter the code and get the grid screen, be sure to press start log.
Or you can verify that you are logging all the channels and do a normal log at any time by just starting the log.
