I have a 95 Wide glide and went to ride today and the battery was down. Recharged the battery and checked the voltage to the battery. I can only read 12.82 volts at about 2500 RPM's. I did all of the tests in the Harley manual on the regulator, the stator, and AC voltage output check and the resistance values of the stator and all check ok per the manual. What is the normal charging voltage? I thought it would be like a car 13-14.8 volts. Any one having any ideas will be appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Jeff
Normal charging voltage is around 14.5 +- when everything is working properly, don't forget you have a draw from the lights etc when idling but you should see this number with some rpm's for sure, How old is the battery?
With the improvement in battery technology and components if kept properly charged ie battery tender when stored and maintained they last a lot longer today.
