My bike won't start. Turns over very slowly, 2 or 3 times then I stop because battery is just about dead. I've done a load test on battery and it's strong. Battery is good. So I cleaned terminals, put a volt meter and tried turning it over again. Got the same result, no go. Volt meter dropped from 12.52 to 7.43 volts when I pushed the start button and cranked 2 or 3 times. Do I need a new starter or is it something else? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
2-3 sec. crank on good battery shouldn't drop below 9v. Isolate battery from bike and load test Results should revile batt. issue or bike issue. Battery most likely needs replaced. Edit oops, old thread, could still be helpful to some.

i would say battery. Just went thru this with my bike. Replaced relay, got starter rebuilt, changed plug wires . No change. Replaced battery(it tested good btw/was under 1 year old, HD battery) started cranking over to beat hell. Still wouldnt start, replaced plugs and 👍🏻
so even if your battery is showing ok, it may indeed be crap.
