Here in Phoenix the temp is around 105 today, while going to work the bike died going 60 mph on the freeway. a few minutes later it restarted only to die a mile later. Head lights remained on and it would crank but not fire. Only after a few minutes rest would it restart. Any ideas as to what to check and how to check it. 1996 Heritage Softail.
Thanks
Bob Meyer
First of all, you're nuts for riding in 105 degree weather!
The first thing that comes to my mind is the possbilty of the ignition module breaking down due to the heat.
Years ago I had an '87 Softail what had a bad ignition nad the dealer would start the bike and use a hair dryer to heat the module to see if it would quit running.
The second thing (because mine went out last summer) would be the "kill switch".
Sometimes it would start fine but once in a while it wouldn't start until after it had sat for a while and sometimes it would just quit running.
Those "sometimes" problems area real bear to trace down.
