I have a 2003 Dyna with the security system and push button fobs. I have two fobs, but the security code is unknown as the previous owner never used it. HD says there is no way to find out the code once lost and there never was a factory default code, is this true? I've heard of others relearning the password before, so I'm confused on what they are telling me.
Look in the service manual it tells you how to find and chance codes.
I must be missing it, or it's in the owner's manual (which I don't have). All I see is how to set/disarm the system using the code without the fob. I don't know what the code is.
This will NOT work if you don't have FOB that was programmed for this security module. with assigned FOB in hand;
1. turn ignition key on, off, on, off, on
2. press left turn signal button 3 times
3. press button on FOB 2 times
current PIN will appear on the odometer
This worked (sort of). The PIN didn't flash on the odometer, but each time I double clicked my FOB, the signals flashed the next digit, and the key light flashed the assigned PIN for that digit. What do you know, it was 11111. Sure looks like a default code to me.
Anyways, big thanks for the help to you guys. After looking at the manual again, I learned I need better reading comprehension. I had seen the directions to change the code, but I was operating under the assumption I'd need the old code to do that (wrong, and the manual doesn't even mention the old code in the instructions).
Thanks for the help guys.
