Cold motor knocking
I've finally have made some time to work on my tune. I've run 5-6 AT tunes based on a map I got from Jamie when I bought the PV, AC, headers and dyno tuned mufflers. When warm to hot, the bike runs really well. But when started cold or when the bike has been shut off for a short bit (like to stop for lunch), there is some knocking, not pinging, that has me concerned. I wasn't really hearing this with the map from Jamie, it has developed from doing the AT's. I'm running 93 octane with ethanol. Today I ran some logs and was gonna try putting it thru winpv and log tune. I'm thinking that it's a timing issue since when I use AT, there is no knocking. So how do I do this and not mess up how the bike runs otherwise? When I did the AT runs, I took it easy, drove normal, no hard accelerations. I've never really understood how to work the power vision even though I have had lots of experience with tuning carbs. I want to take the bike up to Jamie (only a couple of hours drive), but they are back logged on dyno' bikes. I really wish someone could make a more detailed book/website on how to use this device. So, can anyone explain in layman terms on how to adjust this map I'm running or if I'm off track on this issue?
