i had a good oil leak inthe cam cover gasket,so i bought a nw gasket and decided to to dry it up.,,,but when i pulled off the cover the 2 rear cams fell ,,perfect [:@]so i took out the push rods and brought the cams bak into time but what about that silly breather valve? i dont have any idea about it. since it was the back cams that came out. i shouldnt have to retime it right??ive delt with lots of old shovels but they dindt have ALLL THOSE DAMN GEARS AND CAMS .... its maddninig thanks,,jared
As long as the oil pump breather gear has stayed engaged with the piniongear, the breather timing will remain unchanged. You should be good with that.
Another concern is to make double sure that you still have the thin spacings washers on each cam. These set the end clearance on the cams (side to side) and are either .005 or .007 thick. There will be a combination of these with the cams. Also, be sure that the cam backplate for the cams is in place before you install the cams back in. Be sure that all of the cam timing marks are correctly positioned.
After that, I will assume you know the proper drill for setting the tappet clearance. If not, let us know so that you can do this correctly...........pg
yea i know the drill for the tappets, i watched out for the came shims. the film of oil held them on.i have a manual so i was just checking.its not to clear on some things, thanks alot pg,,,,jared
