Thanks. I've made a note.
That's not the make I chose this time. I got one with little LED's that I thought would be handy. I don't recall the make off hand.
i run a HID on a generator ironhead-have for 20 yrs or better-no problem-it be a 100/35 watt bad boy-i said it is bright-same bulb also since getgo-but it be a 59 XLCH-no battery and no worries about burning headlite unless i toggle it on
HID = High Intensity Discharge means light that have ballast what ignites (about 20000 volts) xenon gas inside of sealed dome..
There is SOME resellers that sell HID "halogen" bulbs and they are totally different issue. There is bulb filled with halogen gas (mixture of nitrogen and argon) and what SOME call xenon bulb, same "halogenbulb" filled with xenon gas. Only difference is color temperature or what colour light comes out. Rated normally 55/60W and up
Normal HID "draws" about 7-8 Amps when it is turned on and after 2-4 sec it "draws" 2-4 Amps what is about same than 35W sealed beam.
HID light don't work without battery
I was going to suggest duct taping a flashlight to the handlebars, but that would not be helpful i suppose.
Anyway, if you are not riding long and far from home what about one of those rechargable 12 volt/7 amp batteries used for old security systems? Mount it somewhere where it does not show too much, charge it overnight before you ride, simple wire up direct to perhaps an H4 bulb. I wonder how long it would light the bulb before fading out?
Might be worth investigating. I have not heard of anyone doing this, just a thought.
