well i had a run in with a 200 lb \\; dog today at about 50mph me and the wife went down hard, killed the dog wife landed on top of me so i took all of the road rash she got about a 4 inch patch on one elbow me i got both arms real bad knees kinda landed on top of the bike so it got the worse of the crash tore the forward controls the headlight turn signals off and bent the **** out of my one week old 2"over front end it could have been alot worse just glad the wife is ok!
Gald to here you guys came out in one piece.  \\; Your a real gent for letting your wife get on top when sliding down the road. :-)
I have a question about your frontend. \\; I have a '72 XLCH and I am looking to upgrade to a disk brake. \\; I think my front end is also 2 over.
Do you have any measurements I could use to compare? \\; I.E. bottom of the top clamp to the axle?
Also where did you get you forks from? \\; I might be interested in ordering a set.
Sorry to hear about the misfortune. And glad you're both here to talk about it. I've never hit an animal, but nearly hit a buzzard once topping a hill on a country road. He just barely got in the air and I still had to duck.
Sorry to hear about your accident. Glad you and your wife came out without too much injury. Sounds like it could have been much worse. I worry about deer, dogs, etc. more than I do cages.
Im glad you both are ok, To the guy wanting a new front end, be sure the forks are the same width as the ones you want to purchase, the early years used 33.5 mm forks, then switched to 35, \\; I just converted to a 2007 front end with single disc. still working out the kinks but it stops a hell of a lot better. This post is the perfect post, of why everyone should concider making that upgrade. Sorry to change topics, once again im happy you and you wife are ok.
Glad you're both OK. I've gone down plenty but thankfully no large animals. Rabbit once ran into my front wheel. I had guts and blood all over my boot and fried rabbit on my pipes. Hermit
