WillieD......
Thanks for the Goggle tip. I may try that.
I did not comment on your pics of the cams and gears you posted earlier. But let me say this......
The four cams should each have a number stamped on the cam lobe.
Starting at the rear cam and moving forward......
rear exhaust = 1
rear intake = 2
front intake = 3
front exhaust = 4

The oil pump spiral drive gear and the pinion gear each have a slash mark on them.
Notice the the spline cuts on each gear have one cut wider than the other three. This keys the gears to the proper location on the shaft.
The only way the gears can be installed backwards is to flip them over.
The mark on the spiral oil pump gear faces outward (toward the pinion gear) and of course the mark on the pinion faces outward as well. Both gears are a light press fit onto the shaft. Actually there is an installer tool that should be used to do this.
I have made my own tool and perhaps you could do the same, but a warning is in order here:
The inside threads of the crank shaft are a left hand 5/16-24 thread as I recall. I remember having to buy a left hand tap and die.
You may find a way to do it without the tool. Be aware there is a specified distance the pinion gets installed on the shaft!
We can get into that later when you are at that point in the rebuild.

Oh, regarding the 'S' on one of your cams...... I have no idea of what that is.
The cams and gears should have the following timing dots or slashes on their face:
rear exhaust = 1 mark
rear intake = 3 marks
front intake = 2 marks
front exhaust = 1 mark
oil pump spiral = 1 mark
pinion = 1 mark

I uploaded the pdf file of the service bulletin M-860 to my SkyDrive public folder. This is the first time i have tried this. If you click on this link it will take you to that folder. Then click on DownLoad near the top left and you should have it. Let me know if this works.
