I looked long that picture that IronMick posted.... you need to pretty sure that belt can handle oil... other issue... primary transfervalve should blocked if you change belt primary.

the primary is cool, but i am also looking for final drive for my 81, I have a lead on some people that will be tooling up to make this kits, but am also evaluating adapting a later model, i think i have about an inch and a half of room to play with, i have to see some other models and i dont want to manufacture pulleys

Check out the open primary for sportsters from Nasty Bikes. Its pretty cool. There was a recent post of somebody trying to sell a belt primary set up on the XL FORUM. Search there!

Ironmick in that pic of belt drive do u run oil or is it dry. Need some advice just bought 79 ironhead and it has primo belt conversion. But no oil in it and doesn't have a totslly sealed trapedoor
