I am planning on painting some chrome drag pipes flat black
anyone done this with success?
and can you give me some tips?
I have access to a sandblaster and some cans of BBQ black paint!
I want to do the same thing myself. I'm not sure the BBQ paint will work/last though. I would like to hear from someone else with more knowledge than us on it. I started to use the BBQ paint but i THINK actual header paint will have to be used or it will bubble and peel off close to the head (where the pipes usually "blue"). Please let me know how it goes for you!
I have a set of black drags for my Ironhead that I painted with rattlecan stuff many years ago. They still look great. I just scuffed them up and painted them with Ultra High Heat header paint from Advance Auto.

FWIW, I've used both bbq paint and header paint onmy truck's exhaust systems over the years and neither worked any better or lasted any longer then the other in my opinion. The cans will say what temp the paint can handle.
