Maybe this winter's project?
Wow!
Not a lot of action down here, but I'll try here first!
Every winter, (or a few winters), I do a project.
I start when the time changes and go til Daytona week, then it's either done, or put on hold til next season.
I've done a few jeeps, a Russain bike, a BSA, a few old trucks over the years. What ever catches my eye.
I don't do it, "Show" worthy, just solid "runable do overs".
I had kicked @ about doing a Sporty in "Then Came Bronson" style, (that orange sporty, with the "All Seeing Eye" and the Swimn bike sissy bar)
but THIS is the project.
In Nov/Dec issue of "Motorcycle Classics" they ran an article on the '83 XR 1000.
I think it's the exhaust on then left side and the dual carbs on the right that has me hooked!
So the questions..............
I'm not looking to spend a TON of $$ to do it RIGHT, (I want a new Ultra next year, so I'm not gonna spend BIG $$ on flowed heads to ride @ the streets), but a replecia would be cool enough.
I can't remember a sporty with the exhaust on the left side??????????????
That's my first issue.
Any ideas? on year(s) that it was on that side??? Or was that a special head , an off shoot of the 750 racer?
We'll worry aobut the intake after that
