Hark! Progress! A Black Livewire is missing from the dealership's inventory. I'm gonna think positive thoughts and consider it sold. So they're now down to seven on hand. Hope springs eternal!

Well, another month has passed and, sad to say, my local dealership is still sitting on the same seven Livewire's they had at the end of June. With the one sold in June I kinda thought things just might be turning around. Guess not.

I went to the Cycle Trader web site to see what the Livewire listings were looking like. I wanted to see if there were any used machines for sale but from what I could see it was just dealers hawking their wares. A lot of dealers hawking their wares. Most of the dealers don't list the prices and those that do are at the $30K price point.

Given the turmoil going on at H-D corporate what with the "Rewire" program, it'll be interesting to keep tabs on how this slow motion sales disaster unfolds. At some point some dealer, somewhere, is gonna break ranks and start cutting prices. Tick-Toc on the floor plan cost, right? Should that happen, will the Livewire pricing house of cards crumble? Stay tuned, we shall see.

I'm pretty sure the Harley dealership agreements don't allow them to advertise prices below list price. I've never seen a dealership that listed on-line prices below list price.

It's a new month so I took a look at my local dealer's web site to see the Livewire sales situation. Sad to say, the count is still at seven. That means they have sold one machine since the arrival of the first one some time back in February. They currently have three orange ones and two each of the green(ish) and black ones. That covers all the color choices. So don't wait, get 'em while they're hot! :-) Maybe a fall clearance sale might be in order. Oh, wait a minute ... H-D's new CEO says no discounting. MSRP or better, thank you very much. Premium brand and all that. See ya all next month.

My dealer in the Detroit Metro Suburbs has sold all of their initial allotment to the preorders they received, then their allotment, then as many as they could get after that (other dealer stock? I am not sure), and only have one left on the floor as of last week. When I was there talking about the Pan America they had a line to test ride it.

Thunder Mountain. It's located in Loveland, Colorado. A Taj Mahal of a dealership if ever there was one. They have an absolutely glorious high ceiling log framed building with a large central floor to ceiling fireplace. There's also an on site concert venue and, across a shared parking lot, a Hooters restaurant. I'm told the owner of the dealership also owns (or is at least a partner in) the Hooters. A very nice setup to be sure. Here's the link to their web site:

my gosh they have quite an inventory! they must sell a ton of bikes to have this in stock. my local dealer has more open space on their floor than I have ever seen, can't even get used bikes. Do they negotiate on price?

Dunno about their approach to motorbike sales as I never bought anything from the facility. But they used to have free drinkage/foodage/demo events that I regularly attended. Gave me an excuse to ride my Dyna out there. Unfortunately, the virus has put and end to that. I'm hoping that widespread availability of a vaccine will allow them to resume. We shall see.
