i’m sure Stradle can defend himself but timing matters. My first stage IV engine failed with the factory oil pump in June 2017. Hell nobody even knew about different oil pump designs last summer. Even HD was clueless. It wasn’t till July ‘17 that the 2nd oil pump version came out.

The 2nd stage IV engine with gen 2 oil pump failed in July ‘17. Then it was impossible to keep track as there are 7 versions of oil pumps. My 3rd stage IV engine failed with V7 oil pump in April ‘18. And #4 stage IV engine was built entirely at the factory so no one but the factory knows whats inside.

My point being, that lots of M8 owners are riding around with Gen 1-7 oil pumps. All Stage IV installs automatically include the latest oil pump. So don’t be surprised if more engines fail in the coming years well after the warranty has expired.

You only live once, worrying about it makes no sense. If you want reward, you must choose to take risks.

My M8 has been very rewarding, and I am living life, not worrying about it.

seriously, what sense is it to put so much time and effort typing pages of arguments?

If it was wintertime and you are up north, I might understand,

Go out and ride!

Is anyone else unhappy with the throttle response of the throttle-by-wire?

Even with the SE Pro Street Tuner (V&H slip-ons and A/C), when I go to blip the throttle to downshift a gear sometimes the engine almost chugs and doesn't rev. I'm not sure if it's due to engine tuning or due to the throttle-by-wire system. It was this way stock and figured the tuner would help it, but no dice. It's still the same.

Next, does anyone actually use the EITMS? It's summer and I live in S. Georgia. I have it activated but I hate the way it sounds and vibrates when activated. Also if I let out of the clutch too quick it all but stalls on me. Even a blip of the throttle makes it sound crappy, then back to one cylinder again. Not a huge complaint since I can turn it off, but I figure it helps with heat in the long run.

So far that's all I can complain about. I'm loving this M8. Though it is my first Harley, I've had several v-twin sport bikes. I love the power and torque of a twin. My RGS is no Ducati, but I didn't buy it to be like a Ducati. As any typical gear head (or any man in general), I want more power in anything I purchase! This new M8 gets my approval so far. No sumping, no trans/engine oil transfer, no noises. I'm only at 1300 miles on the odo but I've got on it and rode it like I stole it and have been fairly impressed.

EDIT:: Sorry two more....I can start it in gear, and I can put it in gear with the kick stand down and ride with it in gear. In the sport bike world, the standard is the opposite of both of those.

I know what you mean, at idle there is a slight hesitation when you blip the throttle but I blip the throttle downshifting and it has never been an issue. Some will chime in and say there is no need to blip with the slipper clutch and they would be right. I just love to blip, it makes me feel like I am "one with the machine".
EITMS is great, anything that keeps the motor cooler is a plus. I don't get my head all caught up in the fact that it goes into one EITMS, Ignore it and ride the bike like you normally would. It's kinda like nailing that perfect left leg down stop, if you think about it too hard it won't be smooth. I also have a set of the Ward fan knock offs made by L jugs. Since Jason Ward went AWOL it was the only choice. They are small but powerful and are good insurance when you get into a traffic jam in the heat.

Not unhappy with the throttle response, in fact I'm thrilled.

I have the EITMS enabled, no issues.
