Evidently on there is an o ring between the bottom and top pushrod covers to keep the oil from coming out the cover. This was my initial problem. The spring is supposed to sit on a washer (or collar as he called it ) to keep the spring from eating the o ring. That collar was gone.

Update, bike is back home but still problems. while cool it runs strong, gets 36 + mpg but as it gets warmer, say after 25 miles, the mpg goes way down and the power goes away as well. Won't accelerate from 60 mph in 5th on level ground. Half a tank of fuel for 55 miles. Took a long time to get to 65 in 5th on flat ground. It is as if the brakes are dragging and the engine can't overcome that drag.

I am about ready to throw my hands up. Wife says bite the bullet and get rid of it however you have to. I say no, dealer or MOCO is going to make it right.

It's under warrenty. You got to take it back to the dealer to fix it even if you decide to sell it. Might very well be a easy fix that the dealer messed up on previous repair. After that, then reavaluate your thoughts.

Any Check Engine light or DTC codes? Maybe the tech left some sensor disconnected.

The story seems to be getting a bit better over on the other site. Much good fortune going forward.

Has this made the national news ? Nooooo ! We hear about it on the forums when there is an issue rather than not. There are way more out there that evidently don't have issues. This is not at a level where the feds will get involved. H-D is fixing these under warranty. That is what counts under the law. Does it suck for Steve ? Yes, no question about that. In time, the issue will be resolved.

Didn't have any problems until I did the Stage 1 upgrade. Now my GPS/Radio won't work. Did a factory reset and that of course did nothing but make me re-enter all my presets and info. Obviously the new update is killing the Radios. Dealer said I was the second one the day I brought mine in. Also makes squeaking noise like fan belt slipping on a car when I start it up cold, goes away after it warms up.

Someone mentioned that Harley had tested this motor for 15 or so months prior to releasing the M8 to the general public. My question is, how many of these M8s did they have running during that test period and makes you wonder if they saw these issues. If they didn't, makes you wonder what is different on the assembly line now. These are the issues that should have been vetted during the testing phase. Some may argue that 15 months isn't long enough but the problems some guys have been facing happened on their first day or within their first few weeks of ownership.

Glad I saw these posts in the forum because i was seriously contemplating upgrading my 2013 Limited.

I would think that engines and bikes used as "prototypes" for testing are probably using in house made parts and non assembling line assembly. When outside sourced parts are suddenly thrown into the mix "**** happens". JMO
