Any of you M8 owners miss your old ride? I have a 2017 CVO Street Glide and it's a great bike but it's so very different. I rode my 2012 Heritage softail to work today and I enjoyed it very much. It feels and sounds like a Harley. I will eventually get use to the new bike but it's just not very Harley feeling to me. Glad I still have some older bikes to compare the new one with. Just my thoughts, don't crucify me.....
I'm not sure any fully counter balanced softail ever felt like a "Harley" to me. May have sounded like one though. I liked the sound of an Evo more though. Those days are over.
No regrets here. I like the low idle and minor shake at idle the M8 provides, but like a softail, I like it smooth at speed... it does that well. Good power too.
No I don't miss any other bike but maybe my 2010 RGC. Great bike.
I've only test rode a few M8 RGSs and bought one today. I use to ride a 2004 Road King and loved it. But for me the RK doesn't even come close to the few quick experiences I had and the long ownership I plan to have. It has more power, is more quiet, doesn't shake as much, and has more luxury gizmos. All of which are reasons I decided to buy one. I want a comfortable touring bike that doesn't leave my hands shaking and my ears ringing after a day of riding. And I like all the onboard technology that will make my trips more convenient and enjoyable. Granted, I'm not as experienced with HDs as some folks, but I don't really care. I'm infatuated with this bike and my logic and feelings are all that matter to me.
I still own my 1996 FB. I do not compare it to my 2017 RGU. They are different rides from different times. One does not compete with the other. No reason to
I've had quite a few Harleys that I tricked out and loved, got over them quickly and kicked any emotional attachment to the curb..buy, modify, ride, rinse and repeat

I for one really appreciate your candor. As you stated each has good points, but it will be interesting to see what the future holds. Be safe and have a lot of fun.
