Hadn't really thought of it in a sporty model, that would be pretty cool. Only thing is, wouldn't that be kind of blurring the lines between Sportsters and Dynas?
The new model will be called the Dynasport ......................... ...........
That would be impressive. They didn't even introduce the twin cam that quickly!
tc was put in 1999 and 2000 across the board except sporty. M8 in 2017 so 2018 is not that quick and like someone said the epa up their butt will make them move quicker

Thanks. You may very well be right about the time frame. Although I really doubt the epa has much of anything to do with it. The lawsuit from carb and the aftermarket tuning wasn't related to the M8 engine development... or maybe you guys are talking about some different era regs.
Either way, I think it was kinda interesting when they announced that the VROD was only going to be produced for half of this model year. To me that means they have something in mind for that particular production line.

you're kidding right! dealerships didn't even know about the M8 until a few weeks before they were announced..only one's "sworn to secrecy" are the MoCo
Yet, a good amount of us knew about the new engine months before. Including spy shots.

There are many of us who love the idea of the M8 motor. Just not on a tourer.
The MOCO has hinted that this motor will eventually find its way towards other models. But nothing specific in terms of dates.
Anyone here have any info? Maybe you know someone who's a friend of someone sworn to secrecy. In which case makes it ok to spill the beans.
As so this is pretty much how it always happens LOL

Look at it this way... The MOCO's going through a down sizing effort of not only their production lines, but also in manufacturing.
Leaves me to believe that what will be next is one engine to power each line. Except for displacement limits.
Makes sense since there the TC is out. M8 is in.
Why continue building separate engines?
Smaller tranny's and revised primaries make it all that much easier when considering the idea.
Some manufacturers do this.
I thought I saved it, but couldn't find it.... sorry a I can't provide a link to the written interview, but..
Within a week of the M8 unveiling, one of the MC mags was interviewing an HD exec about all the features of the M8. The interviewer asked about the counter balancing of the engine. The exec said they originally achieved 100% reduction in vibration, but backed it off to 75% reduction to maintain the HD character. The interviewer asked him that since HD has a 100% vibration free version of the M8, will it will be put into the softail line in 2018? The exec quickly changed the topic, and the interviewer remarked, "I'll take that as a yes."
I'm sure it will happen. It makes no sense financially or practically to replace only half the twin cam line up, if one engine will work with all models. They obviously won't announce until that product year dealer's meeting, otherwise they might not sell as many twin cam softails....
My guess will be 2018.... The European emission standards the M8 was designed to pass (Euro 6), went into affect in September 2015. I believe, but am not positive, that a manufacturer can get up to a 2 year waiver.... That would leave 2017 the last year a Twin Cam can be sold in Europe or any other country that uses the Euro 6 standard.
