Within a week of the M8 unveiling, one of the MC mags was interviewing an HD exec about all the features of the M8. The interviewer asked about the counter balancing of the engine. The exec said they originally achieved 100% reduction in vibration, but backed it off to 75% reduction to maintain the HD character. The interviewer asked him that since HD has a 100% vibration free version of the M8, will it will be put into the softail line in 2018? The exec quickly changed the topic, and the interviewer remarked, "I'll take that as a yes."

I'm sure it will happen. It makes no sense financially or practically to replace only half the twin cam line up, if one engine will work with all models. They obviously won't announce until that product year dealer's meeting, otherwise they might not sell as many twin cam softails....

My guess will be 2018.... The European emission standards the M8 was designed to pass (Euro 6), went into affect in September 2015. I believe, but am not positive, that a manufacturer can get up to a 2 year waiver.... That would leave 2017 the last year a Twin Cam can be sold in Europe or any other country that uses the Euro 6 standard.

The Softails will have the M8 as a mid year release I would be thinking...would like to see what they do with the VRod motor...

Things I believe...

The M8 will be in all Touring, Softail, and Dyna models by the 2018 model year. The Twin Cam will be gone.

There will be no change to Softail frames.

There might be upgrades to Dyna, Softail, and Sportster frames and/or suspensions.

The M8 will NOT be in Sportsters, and the Sportster motor will NOT be in the Street models.

Things to drool over: Vrod motor in a Sportster. Ooohhhh!!!

the bikes don´t have euro 6 now they are still just euro 3, euro 4 from jan. 17

http://transportpolicy.net/index.php...les:_Emissions

https://www.bennetts.co.uk/bikesocia...t-mean-for-you

plus most new bikes must have abs from aug. 2015,and all from jan. 2016
it was only the 125ccm that had a free pass til jan. 2016
ps. euro 4 is really low compared to euro 3

Guys, I don't understand. I bought new Honda CB1100EX in 02/2015 and sold it this winter. It was boring, souless bike for me. It can do 0-60 in 3.3s, but no vibration, no shaking, no emotions. Like luxury train. Because I tried sportster 72 and lowrider last summer, I knew that HD is what I need. So I am now going to order 2017 wide glide and I hope, that it will be available. I just don't want another smooth counterbalanced engine. I have goosebumps, those bad, when somebody mention smooth and engine in one sentence. Everybody testing e.g. Triumph thunderbird commander on youtube said that something is missing. In comparison to harley. But what left from harley with m8? Just sound? Please, do not understand my words like something offensive. I understand, that touring should be done in some comfort, but I can't imagine dyna without beating hearth in frame.

smike, you can take the shake out of a Harley, but you can't take what has always been the Harley out of it. It has a spirit in it that will always be there . And that's what draws us to them
