Motor City in Farmington Hills. My 3rd Harley from them in last 9 yrs. They have always been excellent to me so far. The problem
is Harley Engine Build Lack of Quality at the assembly plant

Now what ? First motor was replaced 2 weeks after I bought the bike in Sept. It only had 700 miles on it when the oil pump failed because
of metal shavings left in at assembly. This replacement motor only has 3000 miles on it, now this. So taking it to dealer today and see what
they plan to do about it. Should I let them put a 3rd Motor in it ? It's already had 2 engines Self Destruct, the original and the replacement.
The M8 motor is Worst crap Harley ever sold, My vacation starts in 4 days and this $30,000 Mistake is again unable to be ridden
Chinese parts in unforgiving areas; not the dealer`s fault. Thank the MoCo for that........

It pains me to say this, Harley must improve quality control. Customers expect more when paying 20, 30, 40 grand for a bike.

A possibility, but I would still be more inclined to believe in crappy parts........

Not looking to bash a dealer, just curious who was helping you with the problems.

I wonder if HD uses a system that records all fasteners being torqued? Its how many plants insure that operators don't forget one single step. Usually electronic screwdrivers which report back to a central system. Or are they just doing it old school and trusting.

Well one thing is for sure ... quality control ( read lack of ) is at the root of the problem.
Used to work in a dealership service dept about 10 years ago ... and EVERY new bagger we got in had a scratch in the exact same place on the right saddle bag. MOCO knew about the problem ... the guy installing them refused to do it the prescribed way, because his way was easier ... It took them forever to get rid of him because of the strong union ... My guess it is a quality control problem more than cheap bolts.

Agreed.. Someone else posted that strong unions can make it tough to toss employees who continually fail to do their job right. Its getting hard to find people that are capable, or give a sh*t about quality, and maybe its effecting even HD. Hope not.
sad.. if it weren't for their lack of QC these bikes would be bullet proof themselves! have you noticed that mostly all of the problems reported to date were the result of poor QC and not by design?
