Map updates?
It will if you have a 2020, using Android Auto or Apply Car Play.
You don't need carplay or the GTS navigation system (introduced in 2019, not 2020) to get turn-by-turn through your speakers.
You do need the GTS and carplay to get google maps to work, displaying the map through the bike's infotainment screen. If you are okay mounting your phone (or even keeping it in your pocket and not seeing the displayed direction) you can get google turn-by-turn through the speakers. You simply need to pair your phone via Bluetooth (the USB might also work, I haven't tried). Set your infotainment source for 'media' and choose your phone as the source of the media. Then, any sound produced from your phone, whether it is tunes or navigation, will come through the speakers. (this is one way that I know works, there may be others). This can be done with the 6.5GT system introduced in 2014 and almost certainly (though I haven't tried) with the 2019 and newer GTS system,
That said, if you have the GTS, Apple Car Play or Android Auto is the way to go. You always have up to date maps for free, both waze and google maps work through the system's infotainment display, no hassles mounting your phone, virtually no risk of loosing it to bracket failure.

Overall, its exciting technology, but H-D definitely missed the boat on integrating with standard systems by making a closed solution which is a page right out of the Apple playbook.

What I have found works pretty well:
1. On the Boom, choose your phone as the bluetooth music source (Just BTW..I like the SiriusXM App on my phone, which is free if you have SiriusXM in your car and have unlimited cell data)
2. Use google maps or WAZE on your phone.
3. Because you already are listening to music from your phone, the phone's nav turn-by-turn will cut in when it has an audible instruction.
What's good: it works
What's bad: it is very difficult to get the relative volume of your music app and the nav system on your phone right. I have read that, like the Boom, if you adjust the volume on your phone (using the phone's volume buttons), just the source you are currently hearing will be undated. I have found that this is very difficult to do, I am not sure if the levels get messed up when using the bike's volume joystick (which is much more convenient)

When the H-D demo truck came to town, I test road the 2022s, and even though they use the Boom GTS (as opposed to the 6.5 GT) the version number of the map was MY2022. I would be surprised if they followed the same naming convention with an incompatible map, so I suspect there is a more current map out there, than MY2020, that will work on our bikes and I wonder if naviextras will actually provide the latest map, even though their site shows MY2020 as the latest available.
On the other hand, I believe Apple Car Play and Android Auto (which always provide up to date, free maps) are the coffin nail for onboard nav systems and so is is entirely possible that companies like naviextras have stopped all new development except for large, in-hand contracts (e.g., providing up to date maps for thousands of factory new bikes).
