Map updates?

Map updates?
1) how do I check if the map I have is the most current one?
2) There is a charge for maps? I go to https://harley-davidson.naviextras.com/shop/portal, choose Harley Davidson Premium NA, which I presume is correct because the CVO option clearly is not. And my bike being an Ultra, thus I thought premium. Once registered, I click on "free updates", but the only choice is for $149 to buy a map for NA.
If I'm going to be charged for map updates, I'm going to be pissed.

CVO is available
I don't know why you can't see it but CVO is available. The last I knew, a CVO cycle had 3 map updates which had to be used within 5 years. I do not have a CVO but I believe there is a code you need to enter.
I don't have my cycle available but go to the main screen and look for the system information option. I believe it is in "setup" but you will have to do some drilling down to get to the proper screen

I checked mine the other day. i think it's under Setup, System Info, Nav.
The current file is NA-MY2017.
And yes, we have to pay for updates, same deal on my new Chev Equinox. Which does **** me off. The Garmin in my drawer gets free lifetime updates.
I guess the choice is to rarely, if ever, update, live with the old map or start using the Garmin.

I recorded my system info with a USB stick inserted on the bike per the instructions in the manual.
Inserted the stick into my PC, ran Naviupdates utility, its said I have important updates and downloaded stuff to the stick.
Went back to the bike, inserted the stick, turned the bike on, went to settings, it displayed a screen saying "Authenticating...." for a while, then an error message popped up saying something like "NoNavUpdate".
Perfect.

Really? I just pulled my Garmin Nuvi outta the drawer and blew the dust off it. Currently has a map base of 2009. Its $50 to update the map. Unless you bought the lifetime map update service at a higher cost. either way, I'm not seeing anything free from Garmin

Or do what a lot of us do...buy a $20 cellphone holder for your handlebar, and use the latest, most accurate maps on the planet, including turn-by-turn navigation right in your bluetooth headset, free.
